AEO & GEO (answer engine and generative engine optimization) shows how AI assistants answer the questions your audience asks. Open it from Metrics → AEO & GEO in the sidebar. Its pages are Overview, Prompts, Mentions, Visibility, Articles and Sources. Weelkit asks AI assistants the prompts you monitor, on a schedule, and checks every answer. To add and manage prompts, see Prompts. See How metrics work for who can see AEO & GEO and the period and other controls.
Weelkit can only recognize you once it knows your name and website. An admin or managing editor sets them in Organization settings → AI visibility. Until then, the Overview shows Tell Weelkit who to look for.

Visible, Mentioned and Cited

Each answer gets three separate yes-or-no results: Weelkit works these out from the answer itself. Only the answer’s text counts for Mentioned, and only the links the answer cites count for Cited: pages the assistant only read along the way don’t count. Competitors never count as you. For Provider API checks, Cited uses the assistant’s citation references. A link written in the answer text alone does not count. Retrieved means the assistant’s search tool returned the page as a source; it counts as Cited only if the assistant also cites it. For an article check, a citation whose final address cannot be resolved does not count as a link to that exact article. Each result has a rate: Visibility rate, Mention rate and Citation rate, the share of answers checked in the period. There is no combined score.
  • Answers from assistants’ APIs, from their apps, and the ones you add by hand all count.
  • An assistant that couldn’t be asked shows Skipped. Skipped checks, and partial answers, never count.
  • An empty answer is a failed check, not a Not mentioned result, and never counts toward a rate.
  • When no answer was checked in the period, a rate shows —.

Overview

  • Strip: Visibility rate, Mention rate, Citation rate, Answers checked, Prompts monitored and Assistants. Choose one to see its trend.
  • Assistants: the selected rate for each assistant.
  • Best prompts | Worst prompts: how many of the three results each prompt got at its latest check, for example “2 of 3”.
  • Articles cited: your articles that answers cite most.
  • Top websites | Citation share: the websites answers cite most, yours included, and your share of the citations.
  • Alerts: shown only when something changed that needs your attention, such as a drop in visibility or citations.
When checks fall behind, Monitoring delayed appears next to Last synced. Point at it to see how many prompts are overdue and why.

Mentions

Every answer Weelkit checked, with its mentions and citations.
  • Strip: Mention rate, Citation rate, Answers checked, Assistants, Prompts answered and Articles cited.
  • Assistants, Prompts and Method (Provider API, App or Manual).
  • Answers: search by prompt, filter by Assistant, Method and Result, and sort by date. Each answer shows its three results.
The Assistant filter lists both API and app choices, such as ChatGPT (API) and ChatGPT (app). Choosing an app shows only that app’s answers. The choices match the assistants in Add a prompt. Choose View answer to read an answer in full. Its page shows:
  • Visible, Mentioned and Cited (or Not visible, Not mentioned, Not cited);
  • the answer text, and Where it names you, with the mentions highlighted;
  • Sources it used, marked Your site, Cited or Retrieved;
  • The assistant’s own searches, when the assistant shows them.
The evidence available for Provider API checks depends on the assistant:
  • ChatGPT and Grok show their search wording and citations, but do not return a separate list of retrieved pages.
  • Gemini shows how many searches it ran, when available, but does not return the search wording.
  • DeepSeek and Kimi use a search service to retrieve pages. Their searches show Search engine: Exa via OpenRouter.
  • Other assistants may return searches, retrieved pages and citations, or citations alone. An assistant can also answer without searching.
Weelkit shows only the evidence the assistant returned. Missing searches or retrieved pages do not mean the assistant found no sources.

Visibility

Where your site ranks in the searches behind AI answers. Weelkit runs each prompt’s searches on their own schedule and looks at the top 20 results.
  • Strip: Visibility rate, Top 3, Top 10, Top 20, Avg best position and Prompts searched.
  • The table: each prompt with Your best position, its Change, the Competitors that rank and where, and when it was Checked. Filter by Position, Change and Competitor ahead, and sort.
Choose View ranked results to see every result of each search, with your pages and your competitors’ marked. Only the organizations you list as competitors in AI visibility settings count as competitors.

Articles

Your articles in AI answers. Switch between Published and Drafts.
  • Published: each article’s Prompts, Answers, how many were Visible, Mentioned and Cited, what’s To fix, and when it was Last checked.
  • Drafts: each draft’s AEO fixes. Drafts aren’t monitored until they’re published.
Choose View AI visibility (or View AI readiness for a draft) to open the article’s page:
  • AEO readiness: how many AEO checks the article passes, and its fixes. Choose Fix in editor to fix one, or Dismiss it from its ⋯ menu. See To fix.
  • Suggested prompts: prompts Weelkit suggests for this article. Choose Suggest prompts for new ones, and Review & monitor to monitor one for the article.
  • Monitored prompts, their Answers, and the Sources in its answers.
On a published article’s page, people who can manage prompts also see Add prompt on the right of Monitored prompts. Use it to add a prompt linked to this article. Use Open in editor to edit the article, and Performance to see its search and traffic results.

Sources

The websites and pages that answers cite or read.
  • Strip: Links in answers, Pages retrieved, Websites, Links to your websites and Answers checked.
  • The table: each page with its Website (Yours or Third party), how many answers it’s Cited in and Retrieved in, its Prompts and when it was Last seen. Filter by website and sort by Most cited, Recently seen or Most prompts.
Choose View source to see the page, the prompts that used it, and which assistants cited or retrieved it.
