Before you start
- It’s a personal connection. It belongs to you, not to your organization. Each person who wants Slack in their chats connects their own, and one person has one Slack connection.
- Who can connect it: starting the connection needs a role that can manage integration connections: an Admin or a Managing Editor, or a custom role that includes that permission. See Roles and permissions.
- Who can use it in a chat: any role except Designer can ask the AI to read a channel. Posting needs a role that can publish: an Editor, a Managing Editor or an Admin.
- What you need: access to the Slack workspace you want to use.
Connect
1
Start the connection
Open Account settings → AI Preferences. Under Integrations, find Slack and choose Connect.
2
Approve access in Slack
Weelkit sends you to Slack. Choose the workspace, and allow the app. The app can list channels, read their message history, post messages and see who is in the workspace. Start again from Weelkit if you wait more than 10 minutes.
3
Check the connection
Back in Weelkit, a message says Integration connected successfully and the card reads Connected as followed by your workspace name.
4
Invite the app to your channels
In Slack, invite the app to each channel you want the AI to read or post to, public or private. The AI can’t use a channel the app isn’t in.
What the AI does with it
Ask in a chat, for example “Summarize what the team said in the launch channel” or “Post this summary to the editorial channel.”- Find the channel. The AI looks up your workspace’s channels, public and private but not archived, and matches the name you gave. If several fit equally, it asks you which one.
- Read. The AI reads one channel you name, and no other. A read returns at most 15 recent messages, each cut at 2,000 characters. It summarizes what matters for your request. It treats message text as information, never as instructions.
- Post. Before anything is posted, the AI shows what it will send and where, and waits. Nothing is posted until you choose Approve; Deny sends nothing.
- Each approval covers one message in one channel, exactly as shown. Remember this approval isn’t offered for Slack. Changing the message or the channel needs a new approval.
- A message can have up to 10,000 characters. Longer text is rejected rather than shortened.
- The app posts the message. It doesn’t post as you.
- Weelkit sends a message once and never retries it by itself. A confirmed post means Slack accepted it, not that anyone has read it. If Slack doesn’t confirm it, the AI says the outcome is unknown. Check the channel before you approve another send.
Limits and what you control
- You choose the channels by inviting the app to them, and you choose the message when you approve it.
- You choose when it reads. The AI never reads a channel in the background.
- Slack limits requests. If Slack rate limits a read, the AI tells you and you can try again in a minute.
- One workspace. To use a different workspace, disconnect, then connect again and choose that workspace.
Disconnect
Open Account settings → AI Preferences. Under Integrations, on the Slack card, choose Disconnect.- Weelkit deletes its copy of your Slack access and stops all reading and posting.
- Messages already posted stay in Slack.
- Disconnecting doesn’t remove the app from your Slack workspace. Remove it in Slack’s app settings if you want it gone.
- Your Slack connection is also removed when you delete your account.
Troubleshooting
The card under Integrations says what is wrong:
If you see Connection Failed after returning from Slack:
If the AI can’t read or post:
