Every destination receives the same article content: the semantic HTML described in Semantic HTML content, shaped by the field mapping an administrator saved. Each destination then stores it in its own native form.

What every destination shares

  • Content checks. Before sending, Weelkit checks whether the destination can preserve the article’s content. Unsupported blocks or properties stop the send with a reason. A saved item with incomplete field verification remains visible with its field results.
  • Clearing fields. Updates clear previously sent values only when the destination supports a safe removal. Otherwise the send stops and asks you to enter a value or remove its mapping. Required fields still follow their declared constraints.
  • Draft or published. The connection’s Default status decides whether a send creates a draft or publishes. Weelkit doesn’t schedule posts; a post you schedule in your CMS stays Draft in Weelkit until it goes live.
  • Updates. When the article already exists decides whether a later send updates the same item, creates a new one, or asks for confirmation. With Ask before updating, choose Update article to update, or Cancel to leave the item unchanged. See Send to your CMS.
  • Uncertain sends. If a send times out after the destination may have received it, Weelkit records the outcome as unknown instead of guessing. Resolve the original send before starting another.
  • Status follows the destination. See After you send.
  • Disconnecting removes the connection’s credentials, mapping and verification. Content already published stays in your CMS.

Ghost

  • Content: posts or pages, with the body preserved in a Ghost HTML card. The feature image, its alternative text and caption, tags, authors and metadata use Ghost’s own fields when mapped. Inline body images keep their source URLs; they are not copied into Ghost storage.
  • Status: a published post makes the article Published. Draft, scheduled and email-only (sent) posts, and posts deleted from Ghost, make it Draft.
  • Address: the post’s public URL once it’s published.
See Ghost setup.

WordPress (self-hosted)

  • Content: the post type you chose, with the body as WordPress blocks: paragraphs, headings, lists, quotes, code, tables and images. Images are uploaded to the media library with their mapped alternative text, caption, title and description. SEO plugin fields, custom fields and other post types can be written when the Weelkit Plugin exposes them.
  • Field limits: installed plugin discovery decides which Yoast and Rank Math metadata fields are available. Rank Math’s separate Schema and Redirect resources, untyped serialized add-ons, and ACF gallery, flexible-content and nested-reference combinations are not supported.
  • Status: publish makes the article Published. Draft, scheduled, pending, private and trashed posts, and deleted posts, make it Draft.
  • Address: the post’s public link once it’s published.
  • Plugin version: Weelkit Plugin 0.6.0 or later reports the status of many posts at once. Older versions need a compatible publishing contract and are checked one post at a time, less often. Setup stops if the publishing contract is incompatible.
See Self-hosted WordPress setup.

WordPress.com

  • Content: the post type you chose on the site you chose, with the body as WordPress blocks. Categories, tags and authors come from that site. This integration does not discover arbitrary ACF or SEO-plugin fields.
  • Featured image: Weelkit uploads the image with its alternative text, caption, title and description. An unchanged upload can be reused after its stored values are confirmed. It never changes an image that was already in the site’s media library.
  • Status and address: as for self-hosted WordPress.
See WordPress.com setup.

Sanity

  • Content: the document type you chose. The body becomes Portable Text using the members your Sanity schema declares. A declared object with a writable html field can preserve blocks that native members cannot express fully; your website must render that object. Without a compatible native member or HTML object, the send stops before anything is written.
  • Status: a document with a published version makes the article Published, even when a newer draft sits beside it. A draft-only document makes it Draft.
  • Address: a confirmed public page reported by the document or found in your public sitemap. A Sanity Studio or preview URL is not the article’s address.
See Sanity setup.

Custom API

  • Content: what your manifest declares: semantic HTML, structured fields, or both. Weelkit doesn’t upload media to a Custom API, so images must be publicly reachable URLs.
  • Status and address: read through your readback endpoint. See Status and readback.

API webhook

The webhook is separate from CMS connections. Each delivery is a signed envelope with the article’s semantic HTML, its structured fields and the publication intent, and it’s retried safely under the same event identity. See API webhook. A webhook delivery never changes an article’s status or address in Weelkit.
