# Team and roles

> Invite members, change roles, manage members' sessions, create custom roles, and review team activity.

Admins and Managing Editors open **Organization settings → Teams** to view members and invite people. Managing Editors see active members and invitations, but can't change existing members' roles, remove members, manage custom roles or transfer ownership. For what each built-in role can do, see [Roles and permissions](https://docs.weelkit.com/get-started/roles.md).

## Invite members

1. Choose **Invite User**.
2. Enter the **Email address** and choose the **User Role**.
3. Choose **Invite Team Member**. The person gets an email with a link to join.

Invitations show in the member list as **Pending invitation**, with the status **Invited**. From an invitation's menu, choose **Resend Invite** or **Revoke Invite**.

Under **Invite Settings**, set **Invite Expiration**: how many days a new invitation stays valid, from 1 to 90. Choose **Save invitation policy**. It applies to new invitations and resends; existing ones keep their expiry date.

If your organization [requires company-domain sign-in](https://docs.weelkit.com/settings/organization-security.md#company-domain-sign-in), Weelkit warns you when you invite an address outside your approved domains.

## Members

The member list shows each member's role, status, two-factor authentication and when they were last active. Search by name or email, and filter by role. Admins can filter by status (**Active**, **Pending** or **Suspended**). Managing Editors can choose **All Statuses** for active members and pending invitations, or **Active** for members only.

Admins can use a member's menu:

* **Change Role**: pick the new role and choose **Update Role**. Their access changes immediately.
* **View sessions**: see where the member is signed in, and sign out one session or all of them. This is recorded in the audit log.
* **Remove User**: they lose access to the organization immediately. A removed member can be invited again with **Invite Back**.

The owner can't be removed. To hand the organization to someone else, [transfer ownership](https://docs.weelkit.com/settings/organization.md#danger-zone).

## Custom roles

Admins can create custom roles under **Roles** when the built-in roles don't fit:

1. Choose **Create Role**.
2. Enter the **Role Name** and, if you like, a **Description** of who it's for.
3. Pick the **Permissions** it includes. Each one says what it allows. The **Permission Matrix Reference** lists every permission by category.
4. Choose **Create Role**.

You assign custom roles like any other role, and they appear in the role lists by name. To change one, choose **Edit**; to remove it, choose **Delete**.

## Activity and audit

**Activity & Audit** shows recent team activity, such as invitations, role changes and removals. Admins can choose **Export Activity** to download the last 90 days as a CSV file, and open the full [security audit log](https://docs.weelkit.com/settings/organization-security.md#alerts-and-audit-log).
