# Performance

> See how each published article does in Google Search, how many people read it, how fast it loads, whether Google indexed it, and what to fix.

**Performance** follows your published articles, and gives each one its own page. Open it from **Metrics → Performance** in the sidebar. Its pages are **Overview**, **Search**, **Traffic**, **Speed** and **SEO Health**.

An article appears here once it's live on your CMS, with the status **Published**. See [Article status](https://docs.weelkit.com/articles/checks-and-publishing.md#article-status). Search and indexing need Google Search Console, and readers need Google Analytics. See [How metrics work](https://docs.weelkit.com/metrics/how-metrics-work.md) for who can see Performance, the Google connection notices and the shared period control.

Search and traffic rows belong to an article only when their full address matches its confirmed public address or a verified earlier address, redirect or canonical. A path without a host is not enough; ambiguous rows stay unattributed.

## Overview

The strip shows **Clicks**, **Impressions**, **CTR**, **Avg position**, **Views** and **Avg engagement time** for your published articles.

**Published articles** lists every published article. Search it by title, sort it, and choose a row to open the [article page](#the-article-page).

| Column | Shows |
| - | - |
| **Status** | The article's state on your CMS, such as **Live**. Point at it to see the CMS and when it was last checked. |
| **Clicks**, **Impr.**, **CTR**, **Pos.** | Google Search results for the period. |
| **Views**, **Eng. time** | Readers from Google Analytics. |
| **Speed** | **Good**, **Needs work** or **Poor** on phones: the worst of the loading, responsiveness and layout-stability measures from real visitors, or the lab test when Google has too few visits for the page. |
| **Indexed** | **Indexed** or **Not indexed** in Google. |
| **To fix** | How many fixes are open for the article. |
| **Change** | The change in clicks against the previous period. |

The **⋯** menu on an article row has **View performance**, **Open in editor**, **AI visibility** (the article in [AEO & GEO](https://docs.weelkit.com/metrics/aeo-and-geo.md#articles)) and **Open live article**. Article rows in the other Performance lists have the same menu.

Below the table:

* **Rising articles** | **Falling articles**: the articles that gained or lost the most clicks against the previous period.
* **Queries bringing readers**: the searches that led to your articles.

## Search

Google Search results for your published articles.

* **Strip:** **Clicks**, **Impressions**, **CTR**, **Avg position**, **Articles with clicks** and **Articles on page one** (an average position in the top 10).
* **Queries** | **Articles**, **Countries** | **Devices**, and **Search appearance**.
* **Ranking positions:** how many articles, clicks or impressions fall in the **Top 3**, **4–10**, **11–20** and **21+** positions.
* **Opportunities:** **Striking distance** (queries where an article ranks just off page one), **Low CTR** (articles that get fewer clicks than their position usually earns) and **Declining** (articles losing clicks or position). **View all** opens the full lists, with the query, article and figures behind each one.

## Traffic

Google Analytics for your published articles.

* **Strip:** **Views**, **Users**, **Engaged sessions**, **Engagement rate**, **Avg engagement time** and **Key events**.
* **Views** | **Engagement time**: your articles ranked by either.
* **Channels** | **Sources** | **Referrers**: where readers come from. Visits from AI assistants such as ChatGPT are labelled **AI assistant**.
* **Countries** | **Devices**.
* **Events** | **Readers**: what readers did on your articles: **Scrolled 90%**, **Outbound clicks**, **Downloads** and **Form submits**.

## Speed

How fast your published articles load. Switch between **Mobile** and **Desktop** at the top.

The list on the left has:

* **Performance score**: the average Lighthouse performance score of your published articles, from a lab test.
* **LCP**, **INP**, **CLS**, **FCP** and **TTFB**: loading, responsiveness, layout stability, first paint and server response, measured on real visitors' Chrome browsers. Each shows **Good**, **Needs work** or **Poor**.

Choose a measure to see how many articles are good, and the articles sorted into **Poor**, **Needs work** and **Good**. When a group has more than five articles, choose **+N more** to see them all, with a **Metric** filter and sorting.

**Lighthouse scores** lists each article's **Performance**, **Accessibility**, **Best practices** and **SEO** scores and when it was **Tested**. Articles are tested weekly and after they go live.

An article with too few visitors for Google to report real-user figures is left out of the real-visitor measures. Its lab test still counts.

## SEO health

Whether Google has indexed your published articles, and how they do on the SEO checks.

* **Strip:** **Indexed**, **Not indexed**, **Crawled in 30 days**, **Canonical mismatches**, **Rich results valid** and **Readiness passed**.
* **Index status:** each article's **Index**, **Last crawl**, **Canonical** (**Matches**, or **Differs** when Google chose another address; point at it for both addresses), **Sitemap** (**Listed** or **Not listed**), **Rich results** (**Valid**, **Partly valid** or **Errors**) and **SEO checks** passed. Filter and sort the table, for example to show only articles that aren't indexed.
* **SEO checks:** each check that published articles fail, with its severity (**Critical**, **Warning** or **Suggestion**) and how many articles fail it. Choose a check to see those articles.

Weelkit asks Google about each article daily for two weeks after it goes live, then weekly.

## The article page

Open an article from any Performance table, or choose **View performance** from its **⋯** menu.

The top of the page shows the article's public address, its CMS status (for example **Live on WordPress**, checked when the page opens), and when it was published. Choose **Open in editor** to edit it, or **AI visibility** to see it in AEO & GEO.

* **Strip:** **Clicks**, **Impressions**, **CTR**, **Avg position**, **Views**, **Engagement** and **Users**.
* **Search queries**, **Channels** | **Sources** | **Referrers**, countries and devices (each split into **Search** | **Visits**), **Search appearance**, and **Events** | **Readers**.
* **Speed:** the four Lighthouse scores and when the page was tested, the real-visitor measures (or "Not enough visitors for Google to report real-user figures for this page."), lab timings, and **What would help most**. Switch between **Mobile** and **Desktop**.
* **Indexing:** whether Google indexed the page, coverage, last crawl, canonical, sitemap, rich results, robots.txt and links to the page, with recent changes and an **Open in Search Console** link.
* **SEO readiness:** how many SEO checks the article passes, and its fixes.

### Fixes

The fixes list shows what to do next: each failed check, and each opportunity found in the article's search and traffic results, such as a query that ranks just off page one.

* Choose **Fix in editor** to open the article in the editor at that item.
* To set a fix aside, open its **⋯** menu and choose **Dismiss**. You need edit access to the article.

A fix closes by itself once its check passes. See [To fix](https://docs.weelkit.com/articles/checks-and-publishing.md#to-fix) for how fixes work.

If the article was deleted or isn't in your organization, the page says **Article unavailable**.
