# Find your way around

> The sidebar, the Dashboard, search, notifications, the account menus and themes.

## The sidebar

The sidebar shows only what your role can use. Most members see:

| Section | Items |
| - | - |
| (top) | **Dashboard**, **Notifications** |
| **Content** | **New chat**, **Library**, **Knowledge** |
| **Images** | **Image library**, **Generate image** |
| **Tools** | **All Tools**, plus the tools you added to your favorites |
| **Metrics** | **Performance**, **Analytics**, **AEO & GEO** (Editors, Managing Editors and Admins) |
| **Settings** | **Organization settings** (Managing Editors and Admins), **Account settings** (everyone) |

Designers see **Dashboard** and **Notifications**, then **Weelkit AI** (a new chat) and **AI Preferences**, **Images**, **Tools**, and **Settings** (the organization's visual settings) with **Account settings**. See [Roles and permissions](https://docs.weelkit.com/get-started/roles.md).

Items with an arrow, such as **Performance** and **Account settings**, open a submenu with their pages. Use the back button at the top of the submenu to return to the main navigation.

The organization menu is at the top of the sidebar. Next to it, **Collapse sidebar** makes the sidebar narrow; point at the narrow sidebar to open it for a moment, or choose **Expand sidebar** to open it again.

## Dashboard

The **Dashboard** lists your chats, most recently active first. Writers also see how much they've written: **Articles written** and **Words written**.

* **Search for chats** searches chat titles and messages.
* Switch between **Grid** and **List**, and choose **New Chat** to start one.
* Each card shows the chat's title, its latest message, how many articles it has, and how long ago it was active. Point at the time to see the exact date and time.
* Choose a chat to continue where you left off.

A chat card's **⋯** menu has:

* **Info:** the chat's details: when it was created and by whom, when it was last modified, and how many articles it has.
* **Rename:** give the chat a new title.
* **Edit:** open the chat.
* **Select:** choose several chats, then **Delete** them together. **Select all** chooses every chat on the page.
* **Delete:** remove the chat from your Dashboard, after you confirm. Articles and writings created in it stay in the [Library](https://docs.weelkit.com/library-and-knowledge/library.md).

Designers' Dashboard shows the image tools instead.

## Search

Choose **Search Weelkit** at the top of the sidebar, or press <kbd>⌘</kbd> <kbd>K</kbd> (Mac) or <kbd>Ctrl</kbd> <kbd>K</kbd> (Windows and Linux), and type at least two characters.

Search finds pages of the app and your tools, and in your workspace: your chats, articles, writings, knowledge, images, RSS feed items and, for roles that see Metrics, AEO prompts. Choose a result to open it.

## Notifications

The bell in the page header shows how many notifications are unread, and your latest notifications. The count updates by itself while you work. Choose **View all notifications**, or **Notifications** in the sidebar, for the full list.

* Filter with the tabs: **All**, **Updates** (messages from Weelkit), **Activity** (articles, comments, invitations and your organization) and **Alerts** (security and support). Turn on **Only show unread** to hide the rest.
* Notifications are grouped by **Today**, **Yesterday** and **Older**. Unread ones are in bold.
* Choose a notification to see its details and open what it's about, for example **Open article**, **View discussion** or **Review security activity**. If it belongs to another of your organizations, Weelkit switches to it. If the item no longer exists, the notification says so.
* Choose **Mark all as read** to clear the unread count.

Choose which notifications you get, in the app and by email, in [Account settings → Notifications](https://docs.weelkit.com/settings/account.md#notifications). Security alerts are always sent.

## Account menus and theme

The account menu is at the bottom of the sidebar, next to your name. It has:

* **Account settings**: your profile, security and preferences.
* **Help**: send a request to the Weelkit support team and read their replies.
* **Docs**: this documentation.
* **Log out**.
* The theme buttons: follow your device's theme, light, or dark.

Your avatar at the top right of the page opens another menu: your organizations and your role in each, **New organization**, **Account Settings** and **Logout**.

## Use Weelkit on a computer

Weelkit is made for a computer screen. On a phone-sized screen it shows **Weelkit works on desktop** instead. Links from Weelkit's emails, such as verifying your address or resetting your password, still work on a phone.
